Opening Workspace
How to open a folder as a workspace
What is a Workspace?
Loom doesn't upload files. Instead, you open a folder as a workspace to work with it. Files in the workspace folder remain on your computer while the AI gains access to read and analyze them.
Opening a Workspace
- Launch the Loom app
- Click Open Workspace at the top
- Select the folder you want to work with
- The folder opens as a workspace and the file list is displayed
Permission Requests
When you first open a folder, macOS may request file access permission. Select Allow so Loom can read files in that folder.
Recent Workspaces
Frequently used folders are saved in the Recent Workspaces list. Click to open them instantly.
Notes
- Cloud-synced folders: Folders synced with Dropbox, Google Drive, etc. can also be opened as workspaces
- External drives: Folders on USB drives or external hard drives work too, but are only accessible while the drive is connected
