Web Search & Automation
How AI searches the internet and automates web tasks through a browser
What is Web Search?
Loom's AI can search the internet as well as local files. It finds real-time news, market trends, technical documentation, and more to use in your work.
Using Web Search
When you request a task that requires web search, AI automatically performs the search:
"Research recent trends in the AI semiconductor market"
"Find competitor prices for this product"
"Look up popular travel destinations for 2025"
Combining Local Files + Web Search
Loom's strength is being able to use your files and web information together:
"Analyze our sales data and compare it with industry averages"
"Review this contract and find related legal information"
"Create a comparison table with competitor products based on our product spec file"
Using Search Results
Information found on the web is used as follows:
- Source citation: The source URL is provided with the information
- Summary: Content from multiple web pages is summarized
- Documentation: Search results can be saved as files
Web Search Examples
Market Research
"Research the electric vehicle battery market size and major players, and create a report"
Product Research
"Summarize popular air purifier models and their features"
News Collection
"Gather news related to our company from the past week"
Price Comparison
"Compare prices for laptops with these specs across multiple shopping sites"
Web Automation
Beyond simple search, AI can open a browser and directly interact with websites. Just like a person, it navigates pages, clicks buttons, fills out forms, and more — all on your behalf. While working, a real Chrome browser window opens so you can watch the AI in action.
Setup
To use web automation, Chrome must be installed and the feature needs to be enabled in settings:
- Go to Settings > Integrations tab
- Turn on the Allow web automation toggle
Automation Examples
When requesting web automation, be specific about where to go and what to do.

"Open the browser, go to Gmail, and summarize my 5 most recent unread emails"

"Go to the ABC Electronics website (abc.com) customer inquiry page and submit a product service request. Name: John Smith, Phone: 555-0123"

"Go to Amazon and search for 'wireless keyboard', then list the product names and prices from the first page"
